Turkish Airlines announced Thursday that its economy class passengers would be offered state-of-the-art headsets on long-haul flights.

The move came less than ten days after the U.S. and U.K. introduced bans on electronic devices as carry-ons in flights coming from certain countries including Turkey.

The flag carrier's new service will be effective in all U.S. flights as of Thursday, and will come into effect on other long-haul routes as of May, the press release said.

"By taking advantage of this headset on long-haul flights of the airline, the passengers will also be able to uninterruptedly enjoy the awarded in-flight entertainment system, Planet, includes a wide variety of entertainment options for all preferences," Turkish Airlines said.

Turkey's flag carrier has over 330 aircraft and flies to almost 300 destinations around the world, more than any other airline, according to the company.

The airline increased its total number of passengers by 2.5 percent year-on-year to reach 62.8 million in 2016, according to a stock exchange filing report revealed on Jan. 11.

Turkish Airlines was named Airline of the Year by Air Transport News magazine readers in March last year. The flag carrier was also named Europe's Best Airline for the sixth consecutive year in the 2016 Skytrax World Airlines Awards.
