Turkish group to distribute 55,000 Qurans for Ramadan

Turkiye Diyanet Foundation to hand out Qurans in 4 continents in languages such as French, English, Spanish, and Arabic

In honor of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, a group connected to Turkey’s religious authority will hand out 55,000 copies of Quran to Muslims worldwide.

Abdurrahman Cetin, deputy head of the Turkiye Diyanet Foundation (TDV), told Anadolu Agency on Tuesday that the group will distribute Qurans in 10 languages across 17 countries this Ramadan.

The foundation will give 55,000 Qurans to Muslims in Sri Lanka, Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Belize, Haiti, Panama, Chile, Ecuador, Peru, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Ghana, Kazakhstan, the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Syria, and Kenya.

These Qurans are in such languages as Turkish, French, English, Spanish, Arabic, Kazakh, Azeri, Chewa (an African language), Tamil, and Kurdish.

Cetin added that the TDV is organizing iftar meals and Ramadan activities in 326 regions across 84 countries.

The TDV is reaching across four continents to help the oppressed, he said.

So far this month, the Turkish agency has distributed Ramadan aid to South Africa, Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan, Ethiopia, Myanmar, Bangladesh, and Syria.

This March the group donated 3,000 Qurans including the original Arabic text to Spanish Muslims living in Granada and Seville, Spain.
