A cargo ship ran aground off Turkey's southern province of Mersin due to heavy waves and stormy weather on Tuesday, a coast guard said.
“The ship named Wardeh drifted 150 meters off the coast and ran aground," said the officer, on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to media.
“A military helicopter was then sent to lift two people on the deck,” he said.
