Turkey and Kazakhstan should walk “together" to the future, the Turkish head of parliamentary friendship group said on Monday.

Mehmet Ali Cevheri, the head of Turkey-Kazakhstan Friendship Group, received Kazakh ambassador to Ankara Abzal Saparbekuli at Turkish parliament in capital Ankara.

"As continuation of Ottoman Empire, Turkey assumes the role of big brother [of Kazakhstan] for its geographical position. The brothers [Turkey and Kazakhstan] should walk together on this way [to the future]," Cevheri said.

Cevheri -- who is also the ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party lawmaker for the southeastern Sanliurfa province -- stressed the importance of this bond.

“If we unite [as Turkic countries], nobody can exploit us," he said.
