Turkish security forces arrested two people in the northwest of the country over their alleged links to the PKK terror group, a security source said on Monday.

The suspects, identified only by the initials M.K. and H.D., were caught in the Uzunkopru district of Edirne province when they were trying to cross to Greece, said the source on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

They were active members of the terror group and involved in various terror-related crimes, it added.

In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US, and the EU – has been responsible for the deaths of nearly 40,000 people, including women, children, and infants.
