President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on Monday received a letter from Abdel Fattah Burhan, head of Sudan's ruling Military Transitional Council (MTC), on the eve of a planned Cairo-hosted summit on Sudan.
In the same statement, al-Sisi voiced Egypt’s “readiness to provide all means of support to Sudan”.
The statement did not provide any details regarding the duration or itinerary of Demblab's visit to the Egyptian capital.
On April 11, the Sudanese army announced the ouster of President Omar al-Bashir, who had ruled Sudan since 1989, following months of protests against his rule.
The MTC is now overseeing a two-year “transitional period” during which it has promised to hold presidential elections.
A former defense minister, al-Sisi came to power on the back of a 2013 military coup against Egypt’s first-ever democratically-elected leader, Mohamed Morsi.
