A 330-year-old Calabrian pine tree grows through a foundation’s four-storey building located in Turkey’s western province of Manisa.

President of the Saruhan Foundation for Science, Culture and Education Eyüp Saraçoğlu said that the building was constructed in 2006.

“The layout and project of the construction was altered and the plan was moved back to avoid cutting down the pine. The tree was excluded from the construction site so that that its roots were not harmed. We made sure that the tree’s roots were nowhere near the foundation of the building and that it was only inside the yard. The pine only grows through the balcony.”

Saraçoğlu noted that the tree is 16 meters long and its trunk's diameter is 3.20 meters. “The tree was discovered to be 325 years old when we inspected it 5-6 years ago,” he added.
