5 PKK terrorists killed in SE Turkey

Turkish security forces have killed five PKK terrorists in the southeastern Şırnak province, the local governor's office said Wednesday.

Forces on Tuesday launched an air-supported operation based on intel that the PKK organization was preparing to attack military units in the Behranci Deresi area of the province's Uludere district.

During the operation, five PKK terrorists were killed -- including two female terrorists -- and their weapons were seized, the statement said.

The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU -- resumed its armed campaign against Turkey in July 2015. Since then, it has been responsible for the deaths of around 1,200 Turkish security personnel and civilians.
