Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu has said that as many as 661 shelters of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) terrorist organization in Turkey were destroyed in the last five months.
"In five months, 129 operations were conducted in 22 provinces," Soylu said.
Meanwhile, 8,477 suspects were detained, with 2,603 of them were arrested, according to the interior minister.
Also, 126 terrorist attacks were prevented by security sources, while 689 PKK terrorists were arrested.
Meanwhile, curfews were imposed in nine villages in southeastern Mardin province early Sunday, said the regional governor's office on Sunday.
Security forces will locate and destroy explosive devices planted by the PKK terrorist group in villages in districts in Nusaybin, Ömerli and Artuklu during the curfew, the office said in a statement, which did not indicate when the curfew would end, saying it would last until further notice.
More than 1,200 people, including security force personnel and civilians, have lost their lives since the PKK, listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU, resumed its decades-old armed campaign in July 2015.
