The Palestinian resistance group Hamas's armed wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades, announced Friday that they killed and wounded Israeli soldiers east of the Jabalia camp in the northern Gaza Strip.

In a statement, the Al-Qassam Brigades said its fighters were able to “cut off the enemy's supply line east of the Jabalia camp after they targeted a troop carrier … and a group of enemy soldiers.”

The Al-Qassam Brigades also said they targeted a Merkava tank and blew up another troop carrier.

There was no immediate comment from the Israeli side on the statements.

During the past two days, at least five Israeli soldiers were killed and over 40 others injured in battles with resistance forces in the northern Gaza Strip, according to Israeli army data.

The latest casualties brought the number of Israeli soldiers killed to 278 since the start of Israel's ground operation in Gaza on Oct. 27, while the army's total deaths since the launch of the Israeli onslaught against Gaza on Oct. 7 jumped to 626.

Israel continued its brutal offensive on the Gaza Strip despite a UN Security Council resolution demanding an immediate cease-fire in the enclave.

More than 35,300 Palestinians have since been killed, the vast majority of whom have been women and children, and over 79,200 others injured since last October following a Hamas attack.

More than seven months into the Israeli war, vast swathes of Gaza lay in ruins amid a crippling blockade of food, clean water, and medicine.

Israel is accused of “genocide” at the International Court of Justice, which has ordered Tel Aviv to ensure its forces do not commit acts of genocide and take measures to guarantee that humanitarian assistance is provided to civilians in Gaza.
