Türkiye's Altinbas University marked its 16th anniversary with a special ceremony attended by academicians and administrative staff, according to a statement by the university on Thursday.

During the ceremony, academic and administrative staff who have served at the university for seven years were honored with the 7th Year Service Award. The university also presented Distinguished Alumni Awards in four categories to celebrate the achievements of graduates.

"Our university has transitioned from childhood to adulthood, becoming a significant institution not only in Istanbul and Türkiye but also in our region,” Altinbas University Rector Cagri Erhan said during his opening speech at the event.

Pointing to the university's growth over the past 16 years, Erhan said: “It is now recognized, respected, and engaged in partnerships, sending and receiving students and faculty.”

Noting that 51% of the university's students are international, representing 105 different countries, Erhan also highlighted the university's global achievements.

"According to the Scopus Academic Data Bank, we are the only Turkish university to enter the top 100 worldwide this year. In the 2024 university rankings, Altinbas University ranked 31st among Turkish universities and 11th among private universities in the impact ranking category. In the innovation category, it came 49th among all universities and 16th among private universities," he said.
