Israel killed 16 children and injured 1,223 more during first half of 2019 in the Gaza Strip, which has been under occupation by Israel for years, according to a report published by Al-Mezan Center for Human Rights.

It states that most of these children were killed and injured during the Great Return March demonstrations at the Gaza border. Additionally 17 children were detained during this period by Israeli forces.

The report in particular points out that Israeli forces continue systematic human rights violations in the Gaza Strip. It revealed the great increase in the number of child deaths and injuries in the first half of 2019 by Israel.

The report also argues that Israeli attacks were a natural reflection of the inability of the international community to fulfill its moral and legal obligations towards civilians living in Palestinian territories, particularly the occupied Gaza Strip.

Protesters demand the right of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes in historical Palestine, from which they were driven from in 1948 to make way for the new state of Israel.

They also demand an end to Israel’s ongoing blockade of the Gaza Strip, which has gutted the coastal enclave’s economy and deprived its roughly 2 million inhabitants of many basic commodities.
