At least two Turkish soldiers have been killed and three wounded in the southeastern province of Hakkari in a bomb attack by the outlawed Kurdistan Worker's Party, or PKK, on Monday.
According to initial reports, the PKK terrorists detonated a huge underground bomb while a military convoy was travelling near the village of Tekeli in the province bordering Iraq and Iran.
The injured soldiers were taken to Şemdinli Public Hospital.
Security officials launched a wide-range operation to capture the terrorists.
PKK militants have been targeting Turkish security forces and civilians after the terrorist group announced the termination of a two-year ceasefire last month.
After killing 2 police officers in their apartment on July 22, Turkish armed forces poured on top of PKK targets inside Turkey and Iraq, while police and gendarmerie launched a series of anti-PKK raids across the country.
Turkish security sources announced that at least 814 terrorists were killed and more than 500 were wounded in the month-long anti-terror operations.
