Arab publications have welcomed the most recent rapprochement between Turkey and Gulf countries, hailing the overture as a “new chapter” in the region.

In an op-ed penned by author Turan Kışlakçı for the pan-Arab Al-Quds Al-Arabi website, the columnist said it was “clear that the winds of renewal are blowing in the region,” dubbing the most recent reconciliation between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Turkey as the herald of a fresh era.

“Relentless efforts must be made to establish Turkish-Arab ties, especially with the Gulf, on the right foundations. I hope that the years of mutually squandered energy will never again return,” the author concluded.

In late November, Abu Dhabi's Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan paid his first official visit to Turkey since 2012, and both nations signed a series of cooperation agreements, which Erdogan called "cordial steps that will launch a new era between Turkey and the United Arab Emirates."

Ahead of his visit to Qatar on Monday, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had said Turkey is strengthening relations with Arab Gulf states and is open to dialogue to clear up any misunderstandings.

"In addition to Qatar, we are trying to improve our cooperation with other countries in the Gulf," he further said.

Erdogan also said, "We're strengthening relations with all Gulf countries and hoping to cement our unity with the Gulf."
