A 104-year-old Turkish woman successfully recovered from the coronavirus after 19-day treatment.

Beyaz Kaplan was discharged from the hospital on Monday as she tested negative almost three weeks after contracting the novel coronavirus, Selim Kusagli, the chief physician at the Golbasi State Hospital in Adiyaman, southeastern Turkey, told reporters.

Happy over recovery of Kaplan, Kusagli said, stressing that health professionals are always on duty to treat patients.

"Please help us by following to social distance, mask, and hygiene rules," Kusagli added.

On Sunday, Turkey reported 1,519 more coronavirus cases and 1,116 recoveries. The tally of infections rose to 302,867, including 267,233 recoveries, according to data released by the Health Ministry.

Worldwide, the virus has claimed more than 961,000 lives in 188 countries and regions since first emerging in China in December.

The US, India and Brazil are currently the worst-hit countries.

Over 31 million COVID-19 cases have been reported worldwide, with recoveries surpassing 21.2 million, according to figures compiled by the US’ Johns Hopkins University.
