The death toll from flash floods in northwestern Turkey has risen to five, officials said Tuesday.

Search and rescue operations for two more people continue in the Düzce province, and 66 buildings at risk of collapse have been evacuated, said Murat Kurum, the environment and urban planning minister.

"Disaster and emergency management teams, the governor’s office, and Turkish Red Crescent units have taken all necessary measures," he added.

A total of 232 people have so far been rescued in the Cumayeri and Akcakoca districts, while search operations continue for the missing, the governorship announced earlier today.

Search operations are focusing along the 21-kilometer (13-mile) riverbank, Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu said last week.
