Eat before you die! Try out these mouth-watering Turkish Eid dishes

After celebrating Eid al-Ahda, the Muslim holiday of Sacrifice, we’ve tried out Turkish cuisine once more. And once more, we have fallen in love with the luscious flavors.

As we have every year during Eid, we invite you to try out the unique flavors of Turkey’s diverse cities. This year, we are pleased to share two new recipes with you and your family.

Lamb neck soup (Gerdan Paçası) from the Adana province

INGREDIENTS

2 pieces lamb neck

5 garlic cloves

5 tablespoons oil

3 tablespoons flour

3 tablespoons butter

1 lemon

Stale bread

2 liters water

1 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon red pepper

1 dessert spoon salt

DIRECTIONS

1.) Wash lamb and drain excess water. Boil with water and add salt. After boiling, tear lamb into strips and put the lamb strips back into the broth.

2.) Heat oil on medium-high in a saucepan and add flour; cook until the flour changes color. Add lamb pieces and water mixture slowly into the flour and cook it until it comes to a boil.

3.) Crush garlic, squeeze lemon, prepare the spices and mix well together. Add this mixture into the saucepan.

4.) Finally, roast the chopped stale bread with some butter for 5 minutes before serving and lay them onto the lamb neck when serving.

Çopur from the Muğla province

INGREDIENTS

300 grams meat

2 glasses (250ml) broth

1 lemon

3 tablespoons flour

4 garlic cloves

1 dessert spoon salt

3 tablespoons butter

DIRECTIONS

1. Cut meat into strips (displayed in picture). Put a pan on medium heat for 30 seconds and then start brazing meat strips for 2 minutes on each side.

2. Melt butter in another pan, add flour and fry until it changes color. Add broth into pan and leave to boil.

3. Crush garlic, squeeze lemon, mix them and pour into broth.

4. Finally, pour the garlicky broth onto the roasted meat and cook it until it comes to a boil.

Serve with yogurt and fries.
