The ultimate aim of the Fetullah Terror Organization (FETÖ) was to overthrow Turkish government with all its institutions and change the constitutional order, the reasoned verdict of FETÖ/PDY’s main trial said on Wednesday.

The terror group aimed to establish a theocratic totalitarian regime based on the sovereignty of the group, where U.S.-based FETÖ ringleader Fetullah Gülen is an “imam of the universe.”

Ankara 4th High Criminal Court completed its reasoned verdict for the main FETÖ/PDY trial filed before the 2016 coup attempt, in which 75 suspects are involved.

According to the Turkish government, FETÖ and Gulen orchestrated the defeated coup of July 15, 2016, which left 251 people martyred and nearly 2,200 injured.

Ankara also accuses FETÖ of being behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police, and judiciary.

The reasoned verdict also said that the actions asking the government’s resignation on Dec. 17/25, 2013 is “breaching of the constitution.”

Dec. 17-25, 2013 saw a graft probe and the detention of top government officials in a FETÖ plot to overthrow Turkey’s elected government.

The terror group put its members in critical positions by dismissing employees within the Turkish Armed Forces and police units who might be against FETO, it said.

All the community was suppressed as a result of investigations and trials filed through systematic and planned perception management designed by the media, the verdict added.
