At least three workers were killed and six others were injured when a fire erupted in a citrus packing plant in the southern Mediterranean province of Mersin on Wednesday night.
The fire hit a dormitory, which was set up in the plant’s compound to accommodate workers, according to the police report.
The firemen's crew rushed to the scene and struggled to put out the blazes, which engulfed the dormitory in a short time. It is still unknown what caused the fire.
Six workers were hospitalized as they suffered from smoke inhalation, while helping their friends escape the dormitory fire.
The injured are still under treatment at Erdemli hospital.
