Iran, Afghanistan sign five key economic agreements

Discussions in Tehran lead to agreements on transportation, civil aviation, mining and free trade zones

Iran and Afghanistan signed five economic cooperation agreements related to transportation, civil aviation, mining and free trade zones.

A delegation from the interim Taliban government in Afghanistan met with Iranian officials in Tehran and held economic discussions, the official Iranian news agency IRNA reported.

The meeting was attended by Iranian Agriculture Minister Mohammad-Ali Nikbakht, Hassan Kazemi Qomi, the Iranian president's Special Envoy for Afghanistan, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Taliban interim government, Abdul Ghani Baradar, and Afghan Minister of Industry and Commerce Nooruddin Azizi as well as Iranian and Afghan businesspeople.

The Afghan economic delegation, which arrived in Iran on Nov. 4 to engage in various economic discussions, had meetings with Iranian Vice President Mohammad Mokhber, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi and Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Akbar Ahmadian. They also visited various facilities in different cities.
