The Italian Consulate General in the Turkish metropolis of Istanbul held a panel on climate change Monday.

Italy's Ambassador to Türkiye Giorgio Marrapodi said the Italian Embassy in the capital Ankara decided to organize the panel, titled "Climate Change: A New Challenge for the Mediterranean," to address an issue that poses a problem for the world.

He said that since both Italy and Türkiye are Mediterranean countries, they can share their experiences on the issue.

Noting that Italy reduces greenhouse gas emissions and Türkiye stands out in the renewable energy sector, Marrapodi said that working together will benefit both countries in reaching their carbon emissions and carbon footprint reduction targets.

Mediterranean Green Week will be held on May 14-16 in Istanbul, where the participants will address the critical issues of climate change, biodiversity loss and sustainable development.
