North Korea on Wednesday claimed it received photographs of US military bases in Guam from Pyongyang’s fist spy satellite.
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un also viewed the photographs received at 9:21 a.m. local time (0021 GMT), according to the state-run Korean Central News Agency.
"He (Kim) viewed the aerospace photos of Anderson Air Force Base, Apra Harbor and other major military bases of the U.S. forces taken in the sky above Guam in the Pacific," it said.
In January, the US opened its new military base in Guam, for the first time in 70 years. The base is expected to host around 5,000 marines.
Earlier on Wednesday, North Korea said that Pyongyang “successfully” launched a surveillance satellite into space on late Tuesday.
The South Korean military said that Pyongyang’s spy satellite “seems to have entered into orbit,” according to Yonhap News Agency.
