Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu has called on countries, who have waged war against each other in the early 20th century, to create a peaceful world in order to make a clean break.

“The war may pave a way to the culture of hate, as it may lead to friendship. Let's give up speaking the language of hate to make sure that we will not suffer again from the grief that we had suffered in the past," said Davutoğlu on Thursday.

Davutoğlu was speaking in the Peace Summit which was held in Istanbul on the centenary of the Gallipoli Campaign.

“That's what we have achieved with Australia; a century after its soldiers shed their blood and lost their lives in this land…."

“Johnnies and Tonies came here to battle in the campaign. They came here to fight against Ahmets and Mehmets. After the campaign, Ataturk told mothers of the Anzak that there is no difference between the Johnnies and the Mehmets for us, where they lie side by side here in this country of ours . After having lost their lives on this land they have become our sons as well," he recalled.

Davutoğlu said Turkey has intended to release only one message to the whole world: “This is the right time to improve the peace just a century after the war."

“Let's tell the new generation of the peace; a peace we can develop from the conflict. Let's improve a language of peace for the next generations," he added.
