Probation convicts plant thousands of saplings in Turkey

Around 14,000 convicts, who were released on probation, planted more than 420,000 saplings in 2017 as part of community service, according to information obtained from the Justice Ministry on Friday.

According to the Ministry, the convicts performed unpaid community service as part of their supervised release, and planted 424,712 saplings in an area covering 876 hectares.

Since 2006, nearly 520,000 acts of community service have been performed as part of probation under the coordination of provincial directorates of probation.
