Alexander Venediktov, an aide to Russia's Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev, said on Thursday that the United States is supplying the Democratic Union Party (PYD)/People’s Protection Units (YPG) terrorist organization with the most advanced weapons.
Venediktov added that the U.S. has established around 20 military bases in Syria on territory controlled by the PYD/YPG.
The YPG is the armed wing of the PYD, which is the Syrian offshoot of the PKK. The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the European Union and the United States.
The U.S. and the coalition have largely ignored the PYD/YPG links to the PKK, which the U.S., EU, and Turkey list as a terrorist group.
