Turkey: Over 30 arrested in anti-drug operations

Heroine, meth and drug pills seized by security forces

At least 32 suspects were arrested during anti-drug operations across Turkey, security sources said on Wednesday.

In Ankara, three suspects were arrested in Sincan district. They included the alleged drug dealer named Tuncay P., a mother and her child, said the sources who refused to be named due to restrictions on talking to the media.

Five suspects were rounded up in northwestern Bursa province, the sources added.

In Istanbul's Sultangazi district, six alleged drug dealers were arrested.

A woman was arrested for selling drugs near schools in central Kayseri province, said the provincial security office in a statement.

In southwestern Denizli province, police arrested eight suspects, including five foreign nationals, suspected of drug dealing. Also, 690 drug pills hidden inside a pillow were seized, along with 323 grams of methamphetamine and 12 grams of heroin.

Seven of the suspects were remanded in custody, while one was released.


In southeastern Van province, security forces arrested the driver of a vehicle carrying 30 kilograms (66.14 pounds) of heroin.

Five suspects were arrested in northern Samsun and southeastern Sanliurfa provinces.

Three suspects were arrested in northwestern Balikesir province and one was remanded in custody.
