Turkey and Uzbekistan will increase their bilateral trade volume up to $5 billion, the top Turkish diplomat said on Tuesday after meeting Uzbekistan’s deputy foreign minister.

Mevlut Cavusoglu shared his picture with Uzbekistan’s Sardor Umurzakov on Twitter and wrote the two countries will further cooperate in every field particularly transportation and defense industry.

“Had a fruitful meeting,” with Umurzakov, who is also the minister of investments and foreign trade, Cavusoglu added.

“Will continue to support Uzbek brothers in fight against #Covid,” Cavusoglu wrote.

Earlier this year, at a news conference in the capital Ankara, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan along with his Uzbek counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev, said: “We have exceeded $1 billion in both exports and imports for the first time in bilateral trade relations, but there is still a long way to go.”
