Turkish Prime Minister and the ruling Justice and Development Party, or AK Party, leader Ahmet Davutoğlu said on Friday they would not be friends with those who enter the al-Aqsa mosque with their boots on.

Davutoğlu said, while addressing the public in the Aegean province of Afyonkarahısar, that Turkey was the only country that stands beside the Palestinians during their international recognition process.

“When the UN General Assembly recognized Palestine, only Turkey was with them," Davutoğlu said, adding that the then Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was the only leader who voiced being in favor of Palestine against the Zionist regime of Israel.

Davutoğlu slammed Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, the leader of the main opposition Republican People's Party, or CHP, for his ignorance about Israel's attacks on the Mavi Marmara aid flotilla headed to the Gaza Strip.

Days before the June 7 parliamentary elections, opposition leader Kılıçdaroğlu is strongly criticizing the government's foreign policy, and even asked about the absence of a Turkish embassy in Tel Aviv.

While answering the criticisms, Davutoğlu recalled the recent years Israeli initiatives against the holy site al-Aqsa, the Palestinians and the State of Turkey.

“Some gangs from outside Turkey attempt to arbitrate us, including our president," Davutoğlu said. “Because, they know the AK Party will not be the friend of an oppressor," he added.

He stated that traps are being set against Turkey because of its strong support for Palestine.
