Turkey's natural gas consumption for 2022 is estimated to show an increase of 18.8% from last year, the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) determined on Friday.

This year’s gas consumption is estimated at 60.44 billion standard cubic meters compared to 50.86 billion standard cubic meters last year.

National natural gas consumption this year is based on the upper calorific value of 9,155 kcal/cubic meter of natural gas.

In kilowatt-hours, the country's total natural gas consumption is calculated as 638.87 billion.

EMRA announced that the minimum stock amount of natural gas in the transmission network this year is 360.29 million standard cubic meters, which is higher than the country's daily all time high consumption level.

Daily natural gas consumption hit record levels of 288 million cubic meters on Jan. 19, from increased demand due to heavy snowfall and cold weather in the country.
