Turkey's national boxing team will visit Palestine in near future, said the head of Turkish Boxing Federation on Thursday.

“In the coming period, we will host our Palestinian brothers in our country and we will go to Palestine with our national team,” Eyüp Gözgeç said in a statement.

Gozgec voiced support to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) announcement to recognize East Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine.

The announcement came on Wednesday following the emergency meeting of the bloc in Istanbul called by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Last week, Trump announced his decision -- despite widespread opposition across the Middle East -- to formally recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and relocate Washington’s embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

Gozgec said that they would take steps to explain to the entire world the “injustice” committed by the U.S. with its decision on Jerusalem.

“Palestine is not abandoned,” he added.
