Turkey's president meets opposition party leader

Meeting comes after Nationalist Movement Party's (MHP) call for election alliance

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday met an opposition leader who has agreed to from an alliance with the ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party for the 2019 elections.

Erdogan received the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahceli at the presidential complex in the capital Ankara.

The 35-minute meeting was closed to the media.

On Monday, Bahceli announced his party will not field a candidate for the presidential election and instead support Erdogan's re-election.
