Turkey’s state aid agency inaugurated an education park for Afghan youths in capital Kabul on Tuesday.

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) built the park in cooperation with the Yunus Emre Institute (YEE) in Kabul.

Yunus Emre Youth Park was built within Kabul University compound.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Turkey’s ambassador to Afghanistan Oğuzhan Ertuğrul said Turkey put the education into focus in its aid to Afghanistan.

“In addition, the emphasis should be on women's education,” he added.

Ertuğrul noted that Turkish and Afghan peoples share common values such as religion, language, culture, and centuries-long friendship.

Stressing the religion, language, and culture as shared values of Turkish and Afghan peoples, the ambassador assured that Turkey would continue to provide aid for Afghanistan as long as the latter wishes.

Also addressing the ceremony, the rector of Kabul University Hamidullah Farooqi recalled that Turkey carried out many projects in different fields, including education, health, economy and military.

Ali Özgün Öztürk, the head of TIKA in Central Asia and the Caucasus, his part, said the agency would continue its projects in Afghanistan.

Built on 7,200 square meters area, Yunus Emre Youth Park has two wood shelters, a walking trail, volleyball and basketball courts, and an outdoor multi-purpose sports arena.
