Turkish first lady Emine Erdogan on Tuesday received the ecology and natural resources minister of Azerbaijan, which will be hosting this year's annual UN summit on climate change.

Hailing the cooperation between Azerbaijan and Türkiye in the context of the COP29 Summit, slated to take place in the capital Baku in November, Mukhtar Babayev expressed his country's desire to boost environmental coordination with other Turkic states, including by benefiting from Erdogan's experience on the matter within the scope of the UN and globally.

During the meeting at the Presidential Guest House in the Turkish capital Ankara, Babayev noted plans for talks with various ministries in Türkiye, including the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry; Ministry of Environment, Urban Planning and Climate Change; and Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, as part of his visit.

She emphasized Türkiye's willingness to support Baku with all its capabilities and experiences.

The meeting was attended by Mehmet Ozhaseki, Turkish minister of environment, urbanization and climate change, and Yalchin Rafiyev, the chief negotiator of COP29 and deputy foreign minister on the Azerbaijani side.

Following the meeting, Erdogan said on X: "We are pleased that the international summit on the climate crisis, which is extremely important, is being organized in Azerbaijan. In this context, we exchanged views on our areas of cooperation."

"As Türkiye, we will be happy to support brotherly Azerbaijan with all our means and experience during the COP29 Summit, as in many other areas. I hope the summit is beneficial to Azerbaijan and the whole world," she added.
