Hakan Fidan's 2-day US trip includes meeting with representatives of American Coalition for Syria at Turkish Embassy in Washington, DC

Türkiye's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with representatives of the American Coalition for Syria in Washington, DC, as part of his visit to the US, the Turkish Foreign Ministry announced Thursday.

In a post on X, the ministry stated that Fidan "received representatives of the American Coalition for Syria at the Turkish Embassy" as part of his engagements in Washington, DC.

The meeting came amid the ongoing regional discussions on Syria's political and humanitarian situation, as well as Türkiye's role in stabilizing the conflict-ridden country.

No further details have been disclosed yet on the discussions with the American Coalition for Syria -- a coalition of US-based organizations on human rights.

Fidan's two-day visit to the US includes high-level meetings with American officials, focusing on bilateral relations, security cooperation, and regional developments.

He also met with his US counterpart Marco Rubio to discuss a range of bilateral and regional issues, including the need for a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

The meeting followed up on issues discussed during a March 16 phone call between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and US President Donald Trump.

The two sides also discussed efforts to achieve a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, with Türkiye expressing support for recent US efforts in this regard.

Discussions also covered the ongoing peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia and the importance of Bosnia and Herzegovina's stability for the broader Balkan region.
