3 FETO members, 1 PKK/KCK member arrested while trying to illegally cross Turkish borders, Turkish National Defense Ministry

At least six people, including four suspected members of terror groups were arrested while trying to cross illegally “from our country to Greece and from Syria to our country,” the Turkish National Defense Ministry said on Friday.

The suspects included three members of the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) and one member of the PKK/KCK terrorist group, a ministry statement said.

Earlier, a security source told Anadolu Agency that a suspected PKK terrorist was arrested in Türkiye while trying to escape to Greece.

The suspect, identified only by the initials M.K., was caught in a restricted military zone in the northwestern province of Edirne, said the source, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

FETO orchestrated the July 15, 2016, defeated coup in Türkiye where 251 people were killed and 2,734 injured.

Ankara accuses FETO of being behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions; particularly the military, police and judiciary.

In its more than 35-year terror campaign against Türkiye, the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Türkiye, the US, and the EU -- has been responsible for the deaths of over 40,000 people, including women, children and infants.
