Turkey's domestically-produced ATAK helicopters will be equipped with the long-range, anti-tank missile UMTAS and laser-guided, long-range anti-tank missile system L-UMTAS, both also nationally produced.
With a recent technological update, Turkey's first domestically-made, anti-tank long-range missile UMTAS, manufactured by ROKETSAN, can hit targets five kilometers away with full precision.
ATAK copters have been utilized by the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) since June 10 of 2014, and 16 of them are currently in use.
The Turkish military is planning to increase its fleet of helicopters from 16 to 35.
With its sophisticated high performance warhead, UMTAS will be highly effective against the armors of tanks and concrete bunkers.
