Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım hosted his Bulgarian counterpart Boyko Borisov on Sunday following the reopening ceremony of the Iron Church.

The two leaders met in Dolmabahce Palace in Istanbul for a one-hour closed-door meeting before lunch.

Earlier on Sunday, the reopening ceremony of the historic Bulgarian church was attended by Yildirim, Borisov and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The Orthodox church, also known as St. Stephen Church, is located in the historic Balat neighborhood on the shore of Istanbul’s Golden Horn.

It had been undergoing major restoration work for the last seven years, in a project co-funded by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and the Bulgarian government.
