
Southern African nation hails long-standing ties with Türkiye, including its assistance with security training, equipment support
Türkiye will help train Zambian security personnel to fight in a number of critical areas, said Türkiye's ambassador to the southern African country.
“Türkiye's Ambassador to Zambia Huseyin Dicle expressed his country's commitment to help train Zambia's security personnel in fighting various crimes which include money laundering, financing of terrorism, and cybercrime,” said statements issued by both Türkiye's Embassy in Lusaka and Zambia late Friday after Dicle met with Jack Mwiimbu, Zambia's home affairs and internal security minister.
Dicle said there are many companies from Türkiye that are ready and willing to come and establish businesses in Zambia, as the country is peaceful with internal security, making it ripe for investment, added a Home Affairs and Internal Security Ministry statement.
Many companies from Türkiye are keen to invest in many areas of Zambia's economy thanks to its peaceful security environment which ideal for investment, said Huseyin Barbaros Dicle.
Applauding Türkiye's long-standing ties with Zambia, Mwiimbu assured Dicle that Zambia is open for development and invited businesses from Türkiye to invest in the country, particularly in its textile sector.
“Foreign investment in the country will result in more taxes paid to the government, which will enhance economic development, thereby creating wealth for the country,” the statement added.
Mwiimbu reaffirmed the government's commitment to issues relating to the national security, also welcoming support in the form of training and equipment, it said.
Dicle was accompanied by Ali Ihsa Ergul, the embassy's counselor for security cooperation and interior affairs, and Betul Akbal, the embassy's second secretary.
