Turkish security forces destroyed two terrorist shelters in the eastern Tunceli province under Operation Eren-7 Mercan Munzur, according to the governor's office on Monday.
Gendarmerie teams found 100 kilograms (220 pounds) of ammonium nitrate, which is used in bomb making, and nine batteries along with food and life-sustaining materials in the shelters located in rural areas, said the statement.
The air and land raids continue to neutralize terrorist elements, it added.
The statement did not directly refer to any terror group in particular, but the PKK is known to be active in the region.
In its more than 35-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US, and the EU – has been responsible for the deaths of 40,000 people, including women, children, and infants.
