The London Clinic, where the Princess of Wales underwent treatment in January for abdominal surgery, is under scrutiny Wednesday after allegations of a significant data breach during Kate's hospital stay, according to the media reports.

The alleged breach has reportedly been brought to the attention of Kate, prompting concerns about the security of patient data.

The clinic's chief executive, Al Russell, assured the country that necessary investigatory, regulatory and disciplinary measures will be taken while emphasizing the clinic's commitment to patient confidentiality.

"Everyone at the London Clinic is acutely aware of our individual, professional, ethical, and legal duties with regards to patient confidentiality.

"We take enormous pride in the outstanding care and discretion we aim to deliver for all our patients that put their trust in us every day," he said in a statement.

The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) confirmed that it received a complaint and is assessing the provided information.

Unauthorized access to medical records is a criminal offense in the National Health Service and private health care settings without the consent of the data controller.

A royal insider told the Sun newspaper that the alleged breach was "incredibly damaging" for the hospital's reputation.
