Washington has allowed Daesh terrorists to flee Syria’s Deir Ezzor in a new ploy meant to keep the threat of the terror group alive in a bid to forestall U.S. President Donald Trump’s planned withdrawal of troops from the war-torn country.

Speaking exclusive to Yeni Şafak daily, former provincial council member Karam Freihi said that some of the Daesh terrorists were transferred from Deir Ezzor to al-Hasakah, while others were taken to an unknown destination as the U.S. seeks to apply the same tactic it used in Raqqa.

A similar ploy was implemented by the Pentagon in October 2017 when hundreds of Daesh terrorists escaped from Raqqa following a deal with the U.S. and the terrorist Kurdistan Worker’s Party (PKK)/Democratic Union Party (PYD).

The BBC report, titled “Raqqa’s dirty secret,” exposed a secret deal with the U.S. that enabled hundreds of Daesh terrorists to flee Syria’s Raqqa.

The report said at the time that the convoy included some of the terrorist organization’s “most notorious members and dozens of foreign fighters. Some of those have spread out across Syria, even making it as far as Turkey.”

It also revealed that an aircraft, including drones, followed the convoy. “When the last of the convoy were about to cross, a U.S. jet flew very low and deployed flares to light up the area,” it added.

According to reports, a total of 70 civilians were killed in the latest round of U.S. and PKK bombardment against Deir ez-Zor’s city of Hajeen, which has been under Daesh occupation for over two years.

Coalition forces have temporarily suspended operations to give Daesh a chance to surrender in Deir Ez-Zor’s town of Bagoz east of the Euphrates River, one local source told Anadolu Agency on condition of anonymity due to security concerns.

Coalition officials, for their part, have yet to confirm the source’s assertions.

Hundreds of Surrendered Daesh terrorists have been transferred to a U.S. military base in Syria's eastern Deir Ez-Zor province, according to local sources.

However, according to an opposition commander, of the thousands from Hajeen that had surrendered, the majority were civilians, pointing that they were portrayed as such as part of plans to alter the demographic make-up of the city, which has been under siege for two years.

The sources said the terrorists were moved to the base in Al-Omar oil field area.

On Sept. 11, the YPG/PKK terrorist group – backed by U.S. air coverage and French artillery - began an offensive against Daesh in the Deir Ez-Zor province.

In the past weeks, YPG/PKK captured Hajeen city, the main stronghold of Daesh in Deir Ez-Zor, as well as the towns of Al-Susah, AlbkKhater, Albuhassan and Al-Shaafa and Al-Kashma area.

Russia wants control of the Deir Ezzor axis

According to the head of the Deir Ezzor Delegation Abu Ismat, Russia is seeking to expand its influence beyond Albokmal and al-Mayadeen in order to control the Deir Ezzor province in its entirety.

“Russia wants control over Deir Ezzor in exchange for Turkey’s demands to clear PKK terrorists from Qamishli, Tal Abyad, Ayn al-Arab, Ras al-Ayn and Manbij.”

However, he pointed that Russia’s alliance with Assad poses a major problem in this regard since the Deir Ezzor province rose up against the Damascus regime as fears of retribution against the opposition by Iranian and Shabbiha militias grow.

Syria has been locked in a vicious civil war since early 2011 when the Assad regime cracked down on pro-democracy protests with unexpected ferocity.

Since then, hundreds of thousands of people have been killed and more than 10 million others were displaced, according to UN officials.
