“Those with imperialist aspirations in the region are openly giving support against Turkey. A NATO member that should be protecting Turkey’s borders is instead aligning with a terror organization,” Yıldırım said

Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım on Monday slammed the most recent U.S. provocations against Turkey after it announced its plans to establish a 30,000 strong military unit in Syria made up of Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) terrorists.

In a speech on Monday, Yıldırım addressed the latest American provocation after the U.S. announced its plans to establish a PKK/PYD-led army in Syria.

“Those with imperialist aspirations in the region are openly giving support against Turkey. A NATO member that should be protecting Turkey’s borders is instead aligning with a terror organization and establishing a military unit.”

Stating that the U.S. was treating Turkey as an enemy, “This means taking aim at Turkey from behind a terror organization. The U.S. must comprehend this and must rescind,” said Yıldırım in his speech.

“These lands were watered with the blood of our martyrs. For that reason we will defend our country to the last blood drop against any threat, whatever it may be called, no matter who comes. We won’t allow for any formation that threatens our independence and liberty,” concluded Yıldırım.

The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the European Union and the United States. The PKK has been conducting armed violence in the southeastern part of Turkey since 1984. More than 40,000 people, mostly civilians, have been killed in the three-decade long conflict.
