Turkey's eastern province Van's İpekyolu Municipality launched a project called “Recycled Street" to bring awareness to the importance of recycling. Plastic bottles, bags and metal waste were used as part of the project to make a dog shelter, a bookshelf, several ornaments, armchairs and various paintings from famous artists such as Da Vinci's “Mona Lisa," Johannes Vermeer's “Girl with a Pearl Earring" and Osman Hamdi Bey's “The tortoise Trainer."
