Deputy PM strongly criticizes mass death sentence

Turkish deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinç heavily criticized the death sentences against 683 people, saying this ruling is a ''desperate situation and an absolute disgrace for the world.''

''People''s being sentenced death for a simple crime and in a simple trial is a disgrace for not only Egypt but also all countries who have remained silence against the mass death sentences,'' said Arinç, speaking in live televised debate.

''We do not want anybody to be sent to the gallows. I hope they could repair this serious mistake,'' he added.

Arinç also called on Europe and USA to confront the death sentences issued by a local court in Minya.

''I think, US administration and all EU members should stand up to the court''s decision,'' he said.
