However, a British town is already familiar with the use of robots, where they have been strolling through the streets to deliver groceries for over two years.
They are now playing a larger role in Milton Keynes, 50 miles north-west of London, as San Francisco-based Starship Technologies has expanded the reach of its service, deploying more robots and cooperating with several new grocery stores.
A fleet of self-driving robots are delivering parcels, groceries and food to locals with a top speed of 4mph.
They are big enough to carry two bags of food shopping as well as several bottles.
For each delivery, Milton Keynes residents pay about two British pounds for their orders through a smartphone app.
The robots even join in on a Thursday night tribute to the N.H.S. and deliver groceries to doctors, nurses and other employees for free.
