Turkey has produced the world's lightest mine detector, according to a statement by the Presidency of Defense Industries on Tuesday.

The statement said that Ismail Demir, the president of the defense industries, paid a visit to the northwestern province of Kocaeli, where defense industry operations are conducted, and got briefing about the recent developments.

Demir personally tested the mine detector called "Ozan", the foldable mine detector developed by Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) in line with the needs of the Turkish Armed Forces.

Ozan, which weighs 1.48 kilograms (3.26 pounds), is fully developed by Turkish engineers. With its light structure, which is the lightest in its class, the security forces are going to be able to carry the device in long operations easily.

The graph LCD screen installed on the detector demonstrates the metal intensity. Ozan will be delivered to the Turkish Armed Forces once the agreement is finalized.

In addition, Demir also examined microprocessor, design and production of integrated circuit, decryption and semiconductor technologies.
