The power plant with a capacity of 540 MW is expected to produce 1,705 GWh of power yearly. </p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>The dam will also regulate the flow of the river and make downstream water-based development projects viable and economical.       <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Eight people were killed while two others remained missing due to flood and landslides in Turkey's northeastern Artvin province, its governor said Monday.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p> Kemal Cirit said the flood and landslides triggered by heavy rainfall killed residents of Hopa district and its Yoldere, Yesilkoy and Esmekaya villages.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p> "Although this is not certain, three citizens were killed in a collapsed house in Hopa, three others in Yoldere village, one in Yesilkoy village and one other in Esmekaya village," Kemal Cirit said in a press conference at the Governor's Office.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p> Cirit added that one child was missing in Hopa and 17 people were injured and taken to hospital for medical treatment.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p> The governor said efforts were underway to rescue a citizen who was stranded in Yukari Kuledibi Street, adding that more rescue teams were making their way to the flood-hit areas.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p> Hopa district governor Nedim Cihan told Anadolu Agency the flooding and landslides could be the "worst disaster that our district experienced in fifty years".</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p> Anadolu Agency reporter at the scene says many homes remain under water, while the flood also hit a parking space for trucks, with trees and debris damaging nearly 300 vehicles.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p>]]></content:encoded>
