14 dead, 2 wounded in PKK attack on police bus in eastern Turkey

14 police officers were killed and two others were injured after PKK terrorists attacked a service bus which was carrying police officers in the eastern Turkish province of Igdir on Tuesday.

The media outlets said that the remotely-controlled bomb, previously planted by the PKK, struck the service bus passing near the village of Hasanhan village. After the blast which tore apart the service bus, the two wounded officers were immediately taken to the state hospital in Iğdır.

When the attack occured in the morning, the service bus was on its way to the Dilucu crossing border between Turkey and Nakhichevan

Tuesday's assault is the latest attack, which was carried out by the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party, or PKK.

Police officer killed in clashes with PKK terrorists

The outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party continues its attack on the Turkish security forces, on Tuesday in the eastern Turkish province of Iğdır.

The police officer who was injured during the fighting, reportedly lost his life in the hospital.

An injured terrorist was also captured.

Meanwhile, in the eastern Turkish province of Şırnak, other PKK terrorists opened fire on a vehicle carrying soldiers. During the attack, at least two soldiers were injured.

The PKK, which is considered a terrorist group by Turkey and much of the international community, including the United States and the European Union, has been involved in a separatist struggle with Turkey since the early 1980s.

Turkey blames the group for the deaths of tens of thousands of people.
