While the Fahrettin Altay-Evka3 line metro was entering to Bölge station, one of the containers from the nearby container depot, where containers were being loaded with forklifts, fell on the train, according to initial reports.

Many ambulances and medical teams were sent to the spot. One of the injured passengers was taken to hospital. About ten people who were slightly injured in the accident were treated on the spot.

The metro line remained closed after the accident.

According to a statement released by the Coast Guard Command, the group of refugees was stranded in a small island off the Bademli coast of İzmir's Dikili district while en route to Greece illegally.

After receiving a tip off about their situation the Coast Guard Command sent helicopters and rescue boats to the area.

Twelve people including three children were taken to the land by helicopters while 45 others were taken by boats, the statement said.

Aegean and the Mediterranean seas are the most popular ways for refugees to travel to Greece then to Europe.

Turkey rescued hundreds of refugees from drowning in the sea this year as the country increased it security measures to prevent refugees, mostly Syrian, from traveling illegally to Europe.

The boat was en route from the coast town of Dikili to Greek island of Lesbos when it capsized and sank.

Twenty-one others were rescued from the half-sunken boat with the help of a coast guard speedboat acting on a tip from the town residents.

Survivors said there were 11 more on board the boat; some were traveling inside the boat cabin.

Two speedboats and two helicopters launched search-and-rescue efforts to find 11 refugees who went missing in the accident.

A team of divers were also directed at the scene to look for those, who were travelling in the boat cabin. The divers found nine bodies in the sea.

It is unknown how many refugees the boat cabin was hosting. It is also uncertain how many the boat was carrying when it set out.

The nationalities of the refugees who died and went missing in the fatal accident were not stated.

They were found guilty of illegally collecting money for Gülen's illicit network through aid, scholarship and forced donations through threats and blackmail.

Police in Izmir detained 34 people for alleged ties with the parallel state led by US-based Muslim cleric Fethullah Gülen. The raids on Dec. 18 were based on warrants issued by the Izmir chief public prosecutor's office.

"In line with the evidence, the prosecutor's office issued warrants for over 57 suspects, including businessmen, lawyers and a bureaucrat," the prosecutor's office said.

The government has accused Gülen's loyalists of infiltrating state institutions, such as the police and the judiciary, to gain control of the state, illegally wiretapping thousands of people, senior officials, forging documents and spying for foreign intelligence organizations.

The parallel state has been labelled a national security threat by the National Security Council (MGK). The Security Council considers the self-exiled Muslim cleric's dissident group a serious threat to national security.

At least six bodies were found during the search and rescue operation, the coast guard said.

The boat, which was carrying at least 14 refugees, mainly Syrian, had been heading to the Greek island of Chios. The coast guard units are still searching for more refugees.

In 2015 so far, 751,873 migrants — mostly from Syria but also Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan and other war-torn countries — have made their way to Greece by sea, often crammed into unstable inflatable dinghies.

At least 3,138 refugees have died crossing the Mediterranean and the Aegean seas so far this year, according to the International Organization for Migration.

The raids were launched simultaneously across 14 provinces by the order of Izmir's chief public prosecutor's office.

The latest operation targetting Gülen's followers come after the prosecutor's office in İzmir issued warrants for 25 people as part of the investigation, launched in October. Police sources said nine others are still fugitive abroad.

Suspects were taken to the İzmir police department. They are accused of fabricating fake evidence for the defendants put on trial in the espionage case.

The charges also includes malicious attempts to leak classified military documents to foreign intelligence services and to discredit the defendants with the aim of purging them from the civil service and the military.

Over 300 co-defendants, incuding senior military officers stood trial in 2012, now famous as a military espionage case, on charges of possessing classified military documents. They were later released but the case still continues in Istanbul's 10th High Criminal Court. The shadowy group, led by the US-based cleric, is believed to seek a purge of the armed forces through the espionage case.

There are several cases accusing Gülen's loyalists of attempting to establish a parallel state by holding key posts in the police and the judiciary. On November 3, police detained a number of people including senior police officers and civil servants, suspected of being loyal to the Gülen-led network. Later, the chief prosecutor's office in İzmir ordered the arrest of 57 people, believed to be members of Gülen's illicit group.

The victims have been identified as Seçgin Dengiz (49) and Cesur Artan (53). Dengiz died at a training and research hospital in Konak district, while Artan died at a hospital in Urla district.

Meanwhile, two more people have been admitted to Ege University's hospital with the same symptoms. One of them was identified as Hasan Kutlu, while the other has not been identified yet. Medics at the hospital said Kutlu is in critical condition.

Six people died after having been hospitalized across the western city in the last seven days.

Police have expanded the investigation. Two men were found guilty after standing trial on charges of producing and selling bootleg alcohol. Two other suspects, identified with only initials E.Ö. and M.F., were detained two days ago for allegedly distributing fake alcohol. A third suspect is still wanted for manufacturing fake alcohol.

According to police sources, the anti-terror operation resulted from intelligence-led efforts by the Intelligence Division at the İzmir Police Department and the regional office of the National Intelligence Organization, or MIT.

The coordinated operation involved numerous police officers, who carried out simultaneous raids on 11 addresses in four districts -- Karabağlar, Gaziemir, Konak and Buca.

Teams using specialist equipment forced entry into properties and seized digital items, two unregistered guns and bullets, before rounding up the suspected terrorists.

Bomb-sniffing dogs were used in Saturday's operation, backed by riot police and special operation forces. A police helicopter was hovering over the area during the raids.

Detainees are accused of organizing illegal protests, destroying public properties and starting a blaze in a forest area. They are believed to have ties with the PKK's main base in Qandil in northern Iraq. It is claimed that the suspects have attacked police vehicles and office buildings, belonging to some political parties in the western city.

The PKK is listed by the US, Turkey and the EU as a terrorist group. It has claimed the lives of around 40,000 people during its bloody campaing to declare a Kurdish self-rule in southeast since 1984.

A ceasefire had been observed at the end of October 2012 but it was broken when the outlawed organisation resumed its attacks after a suicide bombing in Suruç town in July on the border with Syria.

As part of an investigation against the parallel structure, an illegal formation led by the US-based so called cleric Fethullah Gülen, raids were launched by the Public Prosecutors office in İzmir. Police units from the Combating Financial Crime Branch conducted search operation on 29 educational institutions across the province.

All suspects were accused of willingly or knowingly helping a terror organization, forging and destroying official documents.

The searching operations are still going on.

The "parallel state" is a purported group of Turkish bureaucrats and senior officials embedded in the country's institutions, including the judiciary and the police, which allegedly want to undermine the current Turkish government.

Earlier, a Turkish court issued an arrest warrant for Fethullah Gülen, the U.S-based leader of the parallel state, for building a terrorist organization and orchestrating a plot to overthrow the elected authority.

The staff of the Prime Ministry of Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency, or "AFAD", have also been sent to the region.

No casulties were reported during the flood, but the flood caused a great amount of property damage. Meanwhile, a pregnant woman who stranded at home was also rescued by the AFAD staff.

Officials said that the heavy rain will continue on Tuesday.

The criminal court of peace on duty ordered the arrest of the two suspects -- the Police Chief Memduh Tosun and the former head of an intelligence branch, Taner Aydın, -- after all of the detainees testified over 18 hours. The court also banned those released from travelling abroad.

Police still seek Batman police chief Hasan Ali Okan and Elazığ’s former deputy police chief, Ramazan Karakayalı, who faced warrants as part of the ongoing wiretapping investigation.

The officers were detained after Izmir chief public prosecutor’s office had issued warrants for them on charges of forming and running a crime group, violating the privacy of individuals, committing forgery on documents, libeling, fabricating crimes, and illegally obtaining and recording private data.

They were referred to the court for their arrest late Thursday after  testifying to the public prosecutor, Okan Bato, at Bayraklı court house in the western province of İzmir.

 They had been taken to Izmir's police department after being detained on Jan. 27 in the police raids which were simultaneously launched in 13 provinces including Erzurum and Adıyaman.

The prosecutor’s order was followed by an inspector's report, in which some serious illegal practices surfaced after searching some of the 170,000 court verdicts on wiretapping at the İzmir police department from 2009 to 2013 under the anti-terrorism act.
