More than 115,000 students were could not attend school due to PKK attacks in three southern provinces.

Twenty-five thousand students in Nusaybin, in Dargeçit 8,590, in Silopi 39,000 in Cizre 1,127 and in Sur 7,000 students could not attend their classes.

Education was interrupted by terrorist attacks targeting schools. Six schools were set on fire by terrorists in Sur, Cizre and Silopi towns.

In addition to that, a school in Cizre was attacked with rocket launchers and dozens of schools in the region are used as arsenals by PKK terrorists.

The Provincial Directorate of Environment and Urbanism building in Şırnak was set on fire by terrorists three times in last two days alone.

'Unacceptable '

"In the 255 schools of the five towns, more than 115,000 students were not able to go to school, which is something that we cannot accept," said Yunus Memiş, Head of the Diyarbakır Eğitim-Bir-Sen.

"Even Hitler did not oppress civilians. No one can gain favor from preventing education. Ignorance is the worst enemy of humanity. And attacks which target schools are violations of human rights."

Thousands of people have left their homes because of ongoing terror attacks in Southern Turkey. Security forces have been fighting against the terror group by removing barricades set up by the PKK, destroying booby traps and filling excavated ditches.

The PKK targets civilians, burns mosques, schools and hospitals and carries out attacks on ambulances.

The PKK is an armed militant group that has been carrying out terror attacks mostly in southeastern Turkey for more than 30 years.

The operation in the town of Dargecit also saw three civilians, including a child, injured. The town, which lies around 40 kilometers (26 miles) north of the Syrian border, has been under curfew since Friday.

The PKK - considered a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU - resumed its armed campaign in late July. Since then more than 180 members of the security forces have been martyred and around 1,700 PKK terrorists killed.

The curfew includes the Abdulkadirpaşa, Fırat, Dicle and Yenişehir neighbourhoods of Nusaybin.

The statement of the Mardin governorate said, "in order to protect our people's lives and property and re-establish the disrupted peace and security in our region, a curfew starting from 7:00 a.m. on Nov. 6, 2015, will be put into effect in the determined regions [Abdulkadirpaşa, Fırat, Dicle and Yenişehir] until further notice.”

After a two-year cease-fire with the Turkish state, the PKK started its armed campaign late in July 2015. Since then, more than 150 members of security forces have been martryed in clashes, while over 2,000 PKK terrorists have been killed in Northern Iraq and Turkey.

The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU. It has been fighting Turkish government forces, mainly in the southeastern Turkey since the 1980s. The bloody campaign has left over 40,000 people dead, including Turkish police officers and soldiers.

Soldiers and policemen attempted to remove barricades set up by the PKK, destroy the explosive traps and fill the excavated ditches.

The terrorists are known to attack ambulances; therefore, security measures were ramped up in the town to safeguard the people who need medical treatment.

The transformers damaged from the terror attacks are being repaired.

Until now, more than 5,000 people have left their houses because of the ongoing terror attacks.

Air-supported operation in Diyarbakır

Meanwhile, in Diyarbakır province's Sur town, an air-supported operation was launched against the PKK.

The operations aims to remove barricades erected by members of the organization, dismantle booby traps, and fill the excavated ditches.

In Sur, one PKK terrorist was killed and one policeman was injured. The police officer was taken to Dicle University Hospital.

The curfew was imposed as of 2 pm on November 27 in Derik as part of the measures to prevent increasing terrorist activities.

Operations began to fill in ditches dug on the district's roads by PKK, remove barricades, and neutralize terrorists hiding in the tense district, according to the local administration. Mardin governor's office said that seven PKK terrorists were neutralized while one Turkish soldier was killed and another injured in the operations, which began at 6 pm on Monday.

The injured soldier is still under medical treatment in a hospital where was immediately taken after the incident. The soldier, slained in the clashes, was named as Sezer Aydemir, a specialist sergeant.

According to local authorities, the operations were intended to restore peace and security, ensure safety of life and property of citizens and protect their rights and freedom, and to seize members of the separatist organization who are wanted on several charges. The operations are still underway in Derik.

Meanwhile, clashes and explosions have been heard constantly in the district's four remate areas where the curfew is still in effect. The curfew, imposed as of 9 pm on Sunday, is still in force in the neighborhoods of Abdulkadirpaşa, Fırat, Yenişehir and Dicle.

The Turkish military began hitting PKK targets in the southeast and northern Iraq on July 24 after two police officers were found dead in the southeastern province of Şanlıurfa in an attack launched by the PKK, apparently in reprisal for a suicide bombing which left more than 30 people dead in Suruç town.

Violence escalated sharply after the attack in Suruç, which was blamed on the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL). Since then, the PKK has been blocking roads, setting fire to vehicles and attacking state-run construction projects in the predominantly-Kurdish region.

Three PKK terrorists were killed and a Turkish soldier was martyred following an armed PKK terrorist attack in southeastern Mardin province in Derik district. According to the Turkish General Staff, the incident took place when gendarmerie's special forces were carrying out an operation against the terrorist PKK group in the area.

Earlier on Thursday, Mardin Governor's office imposed a curfew in several streets in the province to "remove barricades and maintain the security of its citizens."

"As a result of fire opened by terrorists, two soldiers were critically wounded," Turkish General Staff said, adding: "One injured comrade was immediately sent to hospital, but fell martyr despite all interventions at the hospital". The other critically-injured soldier continues to receive treatment for his wounds.

Turkish military added that three PKK terrorists were also killed in a gunbattle after the attack in Mardin.

Separately, police killed three PKK members in southeastern Sirnak province in two clashes after a patrolling police team and Cizre police department's annex came under attack.

Rocket-propelled grenades and other heavy weapons were said to be used in the strike.

The district governor's office declared that the curfew, which has been in effect for nearly three weeks, ended at 8 am on Thursday morning. “The curfew, imposed on November 13, 2015 Friday as of 9 pm, was intended to ensure safety of life and property of citizens and restore peace and security environment, which had been deteriorated, amid increasing terrorist activities," the district governor said in his statement.

After the curfew was imposed in the tense district, police launched several operations to close ditches, dug by PKK terrorists to plant explosives, and to erect barricades the terrorists had used to prevent access to remote areas of Mardin province.

Clashes and explosions have been heard constantly in the district since the curfew went into effect. There have been intensified clashes between security forces and members of the seperatist organisation.

The curfew has still remained in effect on its fifth day in the restive Nusaybin town in an effort to contain PKK violence, said the governor's office, detailing the death toll from the clashes.

“As of today, 10 members of PKK and KCK organisations were neutralized by shooting. Two citizens lost their lives and 13 others were wounded,” it said.

According to the governor's office, three people wanted for being PKK members were apprehended during the operations.

“Twelve high explosive set-ups have been detonated, 38 barricades removed, one ditch has been closed as well as three long-trucks and one van, used as barricades to prevent access into remote areas, have been taken away,” it elaborated.

The governor's office said that the curfew was issued in Girmeli, Kayadibi, Tepeüstü and Eskihisar as of 5 a.m. until further notice.

“The curfew has been imposed to re-ensure public order, to prevent further crimes, to neutralize members of the terrorist organization, and to remove barricades and close trenches, dug by PKK terrorists, in order to block access to remote areas in the town," the statement said.

PKK terrorists detonated a remote-controlled bomb, which was previously planted on road, while a police car was travelling through the province's Dargeçit district. A report said the police officers were on their way to respond a school fire, ranged by PKK terrorists at around 6 am.

Dargeçit police chief İbrahim Halil Aksoy died immediately after the explosion caused the armoured police car to leap into the air. The 45-year-old slain police chief was married and father of two.

The other victims, who died in the blast, were identified as police officers, Akif Hatunoğlu, 29, Mehmet Hüseyin Balta, 31 and Ahmet Akalın, 22.

The armoured vehicle was badly destroyed in the explosion. Bodies of slain police officers were taken to an hospital in the province for a post-mortem operation.

Security forces launched an operation in the region to seize the PKK members who were involved in the attack.

Elsewhere in Turkey, In Istanbul, police forces from the Organized Crime Intelligence Division raided several addresses early Wednesday.

Special operation forces were also engaged in the dawn raids, which were launched simultaneously. Police swooped down on an address in the Beyoğlu district as part of the operation, backed by an armored police car.

The motive for the raids has not been officialy disclosed.

The police search is still underway in the suspected addresses.

Kurdistan Worker's Party (PKK) members were behind the attack who allegedly planted the bomb at an overpass and detonated it when a bus carrying the policemen passed through.

The injured were taken to Kiziltepe and Mardin hospitals.

Security forces have launched an operation to nab the perpetrators of the attack.

The PKK has been designated a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU.

More than 60 security personnel have been martyred, reportedly by the PKK, as tensions in the southeastern region of Turkey have flared up since a bombing linked to ISIL on July 20 in Suruc, which claimed the lives of 34 people.

The GAP plan was prepared by Turkish Ministry of Development and it is expected cost of around 27 billion Turkish liras or ($10 billion) by the end of 2018.

In the southeastern city of Mardin, the prime minister announced the five main pillars of the project as economic growth, social development, city planning, infrastructure development, and enhanced institutional capacity.

Davutoğlu said the GAP project aims to reduce unemployment to 10.3 percent and help raise the region’s exports to around $22 billion by the end of the 2018.

Regarding education, Davutoğlu said that the project would build thousands of new classrooms to reduce the number of schoolchildren per class to 33.

As part of the project, an area of 1.1 million hectares will be opened to irrigation and around 5 thousands small and medium sized enterprises in the region will be offered funds to the tune of 58 million Turkish liras or $22 million.

In addition, an 8-thousand-hectar field will be planted and erosion control practices would be implemented in an area of 40 thousand hectares.

Prime Minister Davutoglu also said that the GAP project took into account the needs of the Syrian refugees who had to fled Turkey due to the ongoing civil war. The project plans to provide support to Syrians in education, healthcare and infrastructure.

"This great level of development (as a result of the GAP project) would be both an inspiration and source of strength for Syrian and Iraq one day when the ongoing violence disappears in those countries," Davutoglu said.

The GAP project is considered significant also for the possible contributions it would make to Turkey's 'solution process,' which seeks to end terrorism and advance the democratic rights of Kurdish citizens and minority groups.

The first GAP project was launched in 1977 as one of the largest dam and socio-economic development projects in the world.
